R. Elmer Ruddick Nakina Airport

The R. Elmer Ruddick Nakina Airport, owned by The Corporation of the Municipality of Greenstone, and operated by Nakina Air Service and Outpost Camps Ltd. (Nakina Air Service) is located at 450 Cordingley Lake Road adjacent to the community of Nakina.  It is the closest airport to the territory known as the Ring of Fire.

The facility consists of a 3,500 foot runway (09/27), modern terminal building and fueling amenities.  Springer Aerospace operates an aircraft maintenance facility in the Nakina Air Service hangar.

Nakina Air Service is the air transportation provider at this airport.  Scheduled flights to Marten Falls (Ogoki Post), Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope), Neskantaga First Nation (Lansdowne House), Webequie First Nation and Thunder Bay  are offered, as well as chartered flights to many northern destinations including the Ring of Fire area.

(Geraldton) Greenstone Regional Airport

The Greenstone Regional Airport, owned and operated by The Corporation of the Municipality of Greenstone, is located at 102 MacOdrum Drive off of Highway 584, 3 nautical miles north of the community of Geraldton.  The facility consists of a 5,000 foot runway (08/26), terminal building and fueling amenities.  The airport is the home of the Ministry of Natural Resources Greenstone Fire Management HeadquartersRecon Air Corporation operates an aircraft maintenance facility on site. 

 Airport activity consists of movements by aircraft charters, medevac flights, and Ministry of Natural Resources Fire detection and fire response aircraft.

The Greenstone Regional Airport also has sea plane facilities located at Hutchison Lake, accessible from Highway 584 (at the intersection of MacOdrum Drive). 

Hours of Operation:  08:00 to 18:00 seven days per week.
