COVID-19 UPDATE: February 13, 2021 - Municipal Facilities, Services and Program Closures

Please remember to always follow all COVID-19 safety protocols: socially distance, wash your hands, wear a mask, and only go out for essential purposes.

Everyone should be prepared to immediately self-isolate for 14 days should they develop symptoms of COVID-19 or come into close contact with a positive case.

The Municipality of Greenstone, as part of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, will be going into the "Red-Control zone" on Tuesday, February 16, as part of the COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open. Please read the Ontario Government's media release.

Municipal Administration and Ward Offices

  • The Municipal Administration Office and all Ward Offices will reopen to the Public on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 8:30 am.  Please be sure to read communications posted on the doors prior to entering.
  • A  passive COVID-19 screening is required to be performed by all visitors prior to entering any Municipal Office.
  • Masks are required to be worn and social distancing must be maintained. 
  • Commissioning services are available by appointment only. 
  • All services requiring access to private offices and/or meeting rooms are available by appointment only.
  • Building permits are now able to be issued.  To apply for a building permit, or for more information, please contact the Director of Planning and Protective Services at 854-1100 ext. 2027 or email stephen.mykulak@greenstone.ca.
  • Residents may continue to make bill payments via mail, at your bank, on-line banking, or over the phone.

Cemeteries

  • There is a limit of twenty (20) people for private interments. 

 Recreation/Community Centres

  • All Municipal Community Centres will remain closed at this time.  The "Red Zone" imposes significant restrictions for sports complexes.  This situation in being monitored and a reevaluation will take place in the coming days.  

Community Services

  • The Seniors' Centre Without Walls program is now available to all local Seniors 55+.  
  • Senior's Transportation services in Geraldton will be limited to grocery shopping and medication pickups from the pharmacy and will be limited to one person at a time. To schedule please call 854-1100 ext. 2010. 
  • Senior's Transportation services in Longlac will be limited to grocery shopping and medication pickups from the pharmacy and will be limited to one person at a time. To schedule, call the Longlac Ward Office at 876-2316. 

Public Works

  • Regular services and operations (garbage pickup, snow clearing, etc.) will continue.

Council Meetings

  • The gallery in Council Chambers will remain closed to the public.
  • Council meetings may be viewed via live streaming.  Recordings of previous meetings are also available for viewing.
