July 9, 2018

Beginning July 23, a road construction contractor will be working in Greenstone to conduct paving and road patching.  The paving crew will be conducting work in the communities of Beardmore, Geraldton, Nakina, and Longlac.  Residents and motorists are asked to exercise caution while driving through construction zones.

View Road List for Paving for information on roads that will undergo full surface rehabilitation this year.  Traffic delays can be expected in these areas.

This latest undertaking by the Municipality will see over 5km of roads rehabilitated in Greenstone in 2018, and is just one more step in the multi-year roads program.  A third party company has assessed all roads in Greenstone and applied a road condition rating to each one.  This information is used in conjunction with optimization software to ensure that the allocated budget is being maximized to its full potential.  This holistic approach results in better management, evidence-based decisions and greater value for money.

The Municipality of Greenstone's Corporate Strategic Plan  identifies roads as a key priority.  This priority was determined by information received during extensive public consultation with residents and has resulted in Council committing $1.1 million to roads in 2018 ($1 million was committed in 2017.)
