Fire Prevention Week Public Engagement
To mark Fire Prevention Week (October 9 - 15, 2016), volunteer fire department staff in all Wards will undertake a door-to-door awareness campaign to promote fire safety in the home.
Firefighters will inspect residential smoke detectors and CO detectors (required where fuel burning apparatuses are installed) to verify they are functioning and installed as recommended. Residents will also be asked to participate in a survey to document whether additional assistance at their home is requested of the fire department in the event of an emergency. The survey is voluntary, and all information released is protected under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).
