Longlac Moosecalac

Moosecalac is a community event held annually in Longlac on the Family Day Weekend. The main activity is the hockey tournament that attracts around 25 Mens and Ladies teams each year. With only one rink, the schedule is quite busy and comes close to playing hockey around the clock. The event is all for Charity and all funds raised go support Sick Children and local Kid’s activities in Greenstone. There are many other activities during Moosecalac including a Moonlight Ski and the Longlac Cross Country Club, the Junior Curling Bonspiel, kids dance. With all the activities going on, Moosecalac is a great place for food as well. The Daughter’s of Isabella put on a French Canadian Supper each year. If Ragout, Baked Beans, Tourtiere, Pea Soup, and Sugar Pie are what you like don’t miss this feast. If you’re going on the ice (or getting off the ice a little late the Longlac Seniors Club puts on a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on Saturday. Saturday night is a special night with our very own legends decked out in Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens uniforms is the highlight of the night. There is also a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday sponsored by the Long Snow Club. The weekend is truly a highlight of the long winter in Longlac and is made even more special by the way the entire Greenstone Community and our surrounding First Nations friends come together to do what we can to help our “Moosecalac Kids
