Notice of the Passing of Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Greenstone passed By-law Nos. 17-34 and 17-35 on May 8, 2017, under Sections 17 and 34 of the Planning Act, RSO 1990.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose and effect of the official plan amendment is to redesignate lands from the Institutional land use designation to a Residential land use designation in order to permit the development of an apartment building. The proposal is to convert the former Masonic Lodge located at 211 Hogarth Avenue West, Geraldton. The apartment building will contain two units. A parallel amendment to the zoning by-law will rezone the lands to Residential Zone 5 (R5) where the permitted land use will be restricted to an apartment building. (see key map).

APPEAL - The last date for filing a notice of appeal of the by-law is June 6, 2017. Any such appeal must be filed with the clerk of the municipality and must set out the reasons for the appeal and must be accompanied by the fee required by the Ontario Municipal Board. Only individuals, corporations and public bodies may appeal a by-law to the Ontario Municipal Board. A notice of appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or group. However, a notice of appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member of the association or the group on its behalf.  No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal unless, before the by-law was passed, the person of public body made oral submissions at the public meeting or written submissions to the Council of the Municipality of Greenstone or, in the opinion of the Ontario Municipal Board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
