Snow Windrow Program Registration

The Municipality of Greenstone continues to offer the snow windrow removal service program to eligible residents and invites applications for service in 2021.

The program is offered to support seniors 65+ and people with physical disabilities that have difficulty removing the windrow on their own.

What is a snow windrow? A snow windrow is the pile of snow that is left at the bottom of a driveway after the snow plow has cleared the road.

When does the service occur? The service is provided after a snowfall exceeds 10 cm (4 inches) of dry snow on level open ground, or drifts exceeding 45 cm (18 inches) deep on public thoroughfares.  Windrow removal occurs after residential roads are plowed.

Windrows are removed only once per winter event. The service does not clear any other areas of the driveway.

Windrow clearing starts after the Municipality has finished plowing all roads. In extreme snowfalls, it may take up to 48 hours after snowfall has ended for your windrow snow to be cleared. If a faster level of service is required, or if you need your entire driveway cleared, you may prefer to hire a private snow plowing company. The Municipality of Greenstone is not responsible for any damage to private property due to clearing of the snow windrow.
