If you operate a business in the Municipality of Greenstone, you may need a business licence. The Municipality requires that some businesses be licensed to ensure public health, safety, and fair business practices.
Apply for business licence
To apply or renew your business licence, you must submit a completed application for Municipal Business Licence to the Municipality by email, mail or in-person; or you can complete the application online. The licensing fee can be paid at any Ward Office by cash, cheque, debit card, or credit card; or by mail by cheque only.
When an application is received, we carry out inspections for the building, by-law and from the Fire Department. The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is also notified. You will be issued your business licence if inspections are satisfactory.

Please note that food handling businesses include restaurants, cafes, lunch counters, refreshment stands, food stores and public halls.
Renewal date
Please ensure that your business licence is renewed by February 15 of the year.

- Public Halls - $41.80
- Second-hand store - $41.80
- Transient trader - $603.32
