Location
Located within the District of Thunder Bay, Greenstone is known to be one of the largest municipalities in Canada, spanning across 3,172 square kilometres. Its prime location along the Trans-Canada Highway 11 provides direct transit for all businesses and travellers.
Wards and First Nations
Greenstone has wards located along the highway that include Beardmore, Geraldton and Longlac. The Nakina Ward branches out to the northern boundary. The Rural West Ward includes Jellicoe, MacDiarmid, Orient Bay and rural properties located to the west of Geraldton, and the Rural East Ward includes Caramat and rural properties located to the East of Geraldton.
Many First Nations thrive and coexist within the Municipality, including Animbigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek First Nation, Aroland First Nation, Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek First Nation, Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek First Nation, Ginoogaming First Nation and Long Lake #58 First Nation just situated outside of its boundaries.
