Coaching and Volunteering

Are you interested in volunteering with one of our recreation programs? We are always looking for individuals willing to share their skills and run classes for the Municipality. Volunteer coaches for our soccer and softball programs are also needed. We'll do all the work in advertising, collecting registration fees and setting up for classes.

Before you can coach or volunteer for one of our recreation programs, you must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) if you're interacting with youth. You must also obtain a letter from the Municipality to include with your VSC application.

What is a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)? 
A VSC screens those working or volunteering with vulnerable persons. A vulnerable person is someone who is:

• in a position of dependence on others
• at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by a person in a position of authority or trust due to their age, a disability or other circumstances (temporary or permanent)

Please visit the Ontario Provincial Police website to complete your VSC application online, which is processed free of charge for volunteers. 

Volunteer honorariums

As a volunteer program instructor, you'll be paid an honorarium. Coaches do not receive honorariums.

• Coaching manuals with practice plans and drills
• Equipment
• Windup BBQ
