The Municipality of Greenstone seasonally operates a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot at the Longlac landfill site. The depot is open in the summer months (June 7 to August 30 in 2024) during regular landfill operating hours.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Community Collection Events have been scheduled for 2024:
Thursday, August 29, 2024 - 3pm to 7pm - Geraldton Public Works Yard (210 First Avenue NW)
Friday, August 30, 2024 - 9am to 1pm - Longlac Landfill Site (Crib Road via Blueberry Road)
Accepted waste AT THE HHW DEPOT
When you bring your materials, ensure they are identifiable with product labels intact. The materials we accept at our HHW depots include:
- Antifreeze
- Fertilizers
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Manufactured lubricating oil containers that have a capacity of 30 litres or less
- Paints and coatings
- Pesticides
- Pressurized containers
- Single-use dry cell batteries
- Solvents
- Used oil filters
If you want to drop off hazardous materials that are not listed, contact the Public Services Department at 807-854-1100 ext. 2029.
Paint Exchange Program
You can exchange paint for re-use through our Paint Exchange Program at the household hazardous waste depot.
