The Snow Windrow Removal Program for Eligible Low Income Persons provides support to residents based on financial need during the winter season (October to April). Eligible residents wishing to sign up must submit a completed Application for Snow Windrow Removal, along with supporting documentation to any Municipal Ward Office between the intake period of September 1 to October 1. Residents must apply annually.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

To qualify for this program, you must be:

  • In receipt of a payment under the Guaranteed Income Supplement Act or the Ontario Disability Support Program Act, on or before the application deadline of October 1 of the current year; and
  • A senior over the age of 65 or disabled resident with proof of disability; and
  • A resident of the Municipality of Greenstone.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

We assist disabled individuals or seniors who are not physically able to clear snow that blocks a driveway, boulevard or sidewalk. After municipal roads are cleared, we will:

  • Clear one entrance per primary property only
  • Remove snow from roadway entrance the width of one car to allow access
  • Aim to remove snow within 48 hours

We do not clear snow from your entire driveway, just from the entrance where snow windrow can build up from the plow. Service timeline will depend on how quickly staff can clear municipal roads.
