Registration guidelines
A third party advertiser is any person or entity that is not a political party, candidate or constituency association that engages in political advertising.

How to register |
You must register with the Clerk at the Municipality of Greenstone between the first day of filing nominations, and the Friday before voting day in a regular election. Registration forms: FeeThere is no fee associated with registering. ApprovalThe Clerk must examine the registration and certify if the notice of registration is compliant. |
Advertising requirements
The third party advertiser must be registered at the time an advertisement is published or aired. Third party advertisers are required to identify themselves on campaign advertisements and signs, so that it is clear who is responsible for each sign and advertisement that appears or is broadcast. The ad must contain the following:
- Name of registered third party
- The municipality where the third party is registered
- Third party contact information (telephone number, mailing address or email address)
Please note
A registered third party is not permitted to allow a third party advertisement to appear during the restricted period unless the broadcaster or publisher has been provided the following in writing:
- Name of the registered third party
- Municipality where third party is registered
- Name, business address and telephone number of persons under direction of registered third party
The broadcaster or publisher is responsible for keeping a four-year record of this information including:
- Copy of advertisement
- Means of reproducing advertisement
- Cost
Inspection must be allowed during regular business hours.
Municipal authority to remove advertisements
The Municipality of Greenstone may need to remove an advertisement if:
- A person has contravened the provisions for third party advertisers
- A person has caused or permitted the contravention
- The owner or occupier of the land on which the contravention occurred.
